About this experience
Siena is a town like no other. A town where medieval traditions are alive and well. A town divided in guilds, called "contrade": small districts with their own symbols, values, and ethics. They challenge each other twice a year in an incredible horse race called Palio.
The Palio is a prestigious horse race held twice a year in Piazza del Campo, in the heart of Siena. You will live all the suspense and thrill of the four days of the Palio. You will experience the Palio's eve, the 'Prova Generale', the second-last trial, which is followed by a celebratory dinner. The next day, the most impressive events start in the afternoon whit the horses' consecration. After a sumptuous parade in Renaissance costumes, three frenzied rounds of the Piazza will determine the winner. The citizens of the triumphant Contrada then acclaim the horse and the jockey as heroes and will boastfully feast all year long. Our agency is glad to offer packages that take the true essence of the Palio, a tailor-made adventure that will let you take you in the soul of this city.
