Ultimate Changing of the Guard Tour with Westminster Dome Climb
About this experience
Take a voyage inside the Royal London thanks to this exclusive tour that lets you see not one, but two Changing of the Guards with the help of a professional local guide!
You will admire the scene from special vantage points and you will learn all about the military customs that have made them so famous. Then we will go to Parliament Square, for an exclusive dome climb where the very best views available of Westminster Abbey and Central London are waiting for you!
No better way to witness the Changing of the Guard than going with a qualified guide who can take you to the best spots to admire the scene and reveal the significance of everything from the marching way of the guards to the number of buttons on the uniforms!
You will meet your friendly guide at the Victoria Memorial in front of Buckingham Palace and there they will give you a short introduction to and the ritual you are about to witness. While the front of the Palace is crowded with spectators, we will reach a series of special vantage points near Wellington Barracks, where the main part of the ceremony happens, including the band playing and a very formal uniform checks.
As you watch this traditional scene, your professional guide will take you into the deeply symbolic world of the British military, where every badge, button, and the color is permeated with centuries-old stories and traditions.
Our exclusive tour features much of the ceremony of the more iconic guard change in front of Buckingham Palace, we will also witness The Changing of the Queen’s Life Guard at the Horse Guards Parade but with the added bonus of armored soldiers and highly trained horses.
Unlike the guards at Buckingham, you can also stand right next to the horse guards and take some pictures with them!
After watching these two jaw-dropping ceremonies, we have one last surprise for you. The experience ends atop an exclusive dome in Westminster that has the most marvelous views in the city of Westminster Abbey and 360-degree views over the rest of the city. It was spared from the WWII bombing because of its similarities (in the eyes of German bombers) to St. Paul’s Dome, it is one of the hidden treasures of the area and it’s only open to your group!
