This is a must experience while in Florence to enjoy the visit to one of the most monumental religious complexes in the whole world in the company of a local, professional tour guide and ending with you at the top of the dome to admire the city of Florence from its highest viewpoint, thank the reservation we provide to all participants!
Your tour will start with the Baptistery and its glittering mosaics on its dome, with its geometric white and green marble incrustations of the most "basic" architectural expression from the Florentine Middle Ages, seen by later artists as the most inspiring building throughout Florence's history.
Then, the huge importance of the Santa Maria del Fiore Cathedral to the local community, its exceptional dimension and its unrivaled red-tiled dome, an absolute masterpiece of ingenious skills and a symbol of faith so well rooted in Florentine contemporary society. Learn how Brunelleschi managed to have it built and what is the today's condition of this gigantic, eight-sided dome.
At the end of your guided tour you will admire the highlights hosted in the recently enlarged and refurbished Museo dell'Opera del Duomo, such as Michelangelo's Pieta Bandini, Donatello's Mary Magdalene and Lorenzo Ghiberti's original bronze doors for the Baptistery (northern door and the universally famous Porta del Paradiso (Gate of Paradise).
Shortly after this max 2.5-hour tour, you can climb on your own the dome thanks to the timed reservation we provide for all participants to our tour.
