Spend a day exploring one of the world’s most beautiful cities. Stroll the corridors of the world famous Louvre and share a smile with the Mona Lisa. Admire the dazzling rose windows in Notre Dame Cathedral, cruise down the Seine river past the most beautiful monuments in the city and end your day on the top of the sparkling Eiffel Tower. In between, linger along the river banks or around the charming Ile de la Cité, check out the Latin Quarter and perhaps drop into the best ice-cream store in Paris on the gorgeous Ile St Louis. It’s a day like no other!
Start your day in the Louvre, home to home to some of the world’s greatest masterpieces. Join your guide and small group of 6 people or fewer for a 2.5 hour tour of this amazing museum and it’s highlights - of course you will see the famous Mona Lisa, and learn some of her many secrets, but there is much more to the Louvre, and your guide will ensure you don’t miss a thing! See the spectacular Winged Victory of Samothrace, and the serene Venus de Milo. Admire Michelangelo’s magnificent slaves, and learn the tragic story behind Canova’s beautiful Cupid & Psyché. Then it’s on to the great paintings - Leonardo da Vinci, David, Géricault, Veronese, and much more. And don’t forget the Louvre was once a royal palace. See the crown jewels in the sumptuous Apollo Gallery built for King Louis XIV, and don’t miss the lavish apartments of Emperor Napoleon III, often overlooked by visitors. Your expert and passionate guide will ensure that your visit to the Louvre is one to remember!
After your visit, you have free time for lunch, and it’s a short stroll along the riverside to the meeting point for your next tour. Along the way you might like to stop and browse at some of the famous and picturesque ‘bouquinistes’ or vintage booksellers, set up along the riverside since 1859 and now listed as a UNESCO World Heritage site. Then it’s time to meet your guide for a tour of the charming Ile de la Cité, birthplace of Paris and home to some of the architectural gems of the city. Start your tour on the oldest bridge in Paris (called the New Bridge!) and learn about the French King who gallivanted in the delightful little park below, now a favorite spot for summer picnics. Stroll through one of the prettiest squares in Paris, before reaching the infamous medieval palace and revolutionary prison of La Conciergerie, final home to Queen Marie Antoinette. Here you will learn about the tumultuous period of the French Revolution, and see the cells that prisoners were kept in whilst awaiting their fate.
Your next visit is to one of the hidden gems of the island, the Sainte Chapelle. Built in the 13th century by the King Saint Louis, the Sainte Chapelle is home to some of the most dazzling stained glass in the world. Skip the lines and step into a room filled with glittering colors, as your guide helps you to read the stories on the stunning windows.
End your tour of this lovely island at the Cathedral of Notre Dame, gothic masterpiece and home to Victor Hugo’s famous hunchback! Your guide will take you inside this 850 year old church, pointing out the beautiful rose windows - among the largest in Europe - and the relics of Christ’s crown of thorns.
After this part of your tour is over, you might like to cross the river for a visit to Shakespeare and Company, the famous bookstore and literary hangout, or explore the Latin Quarter. Then it’s a short stroll over the second island on the river, the tiny and irresistable Ile St Louis, home to some of the most expensive real estate in Paris and also some of the best ice cream in the city! You might like to try some before boarding your boat for a cruise down the Seine river, from where you can admire the many beautiful sites and monuments laid out along the UNESCO World Heritage listed river banks. See the Orsay Museum, the Tuileries Gardens, the Grand Palais and some of the most beautiful bridges in the city, before arriving at your final destination of the day, the Eiffel Tower.
Built in 1889, the ‘Iron Lady’ was hated by many Parisians when she first appeared on the skyline. Now the iconic symbol of the city, no trip to Paris is complete without a climb to the very top of the Eiffel Tower. Join your guide and skip the famously long lines with priority access to the second floor, from where you will enjoy a bird’s eye view across the city. Your guide will point out all the major sights: from Montmartre to the Arc de Triomphe; the golden dome of the Invalides to the iconic modern architecture of the Pompidou center, all of Paris is laid out at your feet. Then it’s up to the top of the tower, for a peek into Gustave Eiffel’s apartment and perhaps a glass of champagne as you toast your day in Paris.
Join us for a day to remember and discover the highlights and treasures of the City of Lights.
